Environment
In addressing its commitment to improving the environmental performance throughout the organization, and complying with its clients’ needs and contractual obligations, AIC has worked in conjunction with a renowned environmental company to produce a detailed Environmental Management Plan (EMP) conforming to ISO 14001:2004 Standard.
This EMP falls under the overarching Environmental Management System (EMS) which we are currently developing. This is a flexible working document reviewed in line with the ever changing needs of our clients and those of key environmental issues.
The EMS enables AIC to identify, monitor and control its environmental aspects. The plan is part of the overall management system that includes:
- Organizational Structure
- Planning Activities
- Responsibilities
- Practices
- Procedures
- Processes.
It also covers resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining the environmental policy.
Our plan is that the finalized EMS will integrate environmental management into our company’s daily operations, long-term planning and other quality management systems. We believe that having a comprehensive EMS will bring AIC and our respective clients the following benefits:
- Minimize environmental liabilities
- Maximize the efficient use of resources
- Reduce waste
- Demonstrate a good corporate image
- Build awareness of environmental concern among employees
- Gain a better understanding of the environmental impact of business activities
- Improve environmental performance, through more efficient operating practices.
AIC sees the EMS as a powerful tool to both improve environmental performance and enhance business efficiency. The EMS is not prescriptive; rather it requires you to take an active role in examining your practices, and then determining how your impacts should be managed. This approach encourages creative and relevant solutions from within the organization.
Once the EMS is completed it will allow us to ensure that our performance is within regulatory requirements, and will allow us to keep ahead of more stringent regulations which may be introduced in the future.
